General Meeting, 02/04/07:

A good turn out with over 40 members attending an informative and entertaining evening. The meeting was addressed by PCSO Andrew Hillman, County Councillor Graham Newman and Town and District Councillor Mike Ninnmey, we are always grateful to them for their support. This was followed by Association business and update since the last meeting. The meeting expressed its disappointment at the withdrawal of the "Police Direct" email service, which was thought of as a very quick, efficient and valuable service to the public. We would wish to see something similar replacing it in the not to distant future. There was concern that community associations had not been invited to be part of the newly formed "Safer Neighbourhood Teams”.

The executive were then asked to write to Suffolk Constabulary, the Highways Agency, the Town Council and the Port of Felixstowe in the following terms: “This Community Association expresses its grave concern about the congestion and disruption caused to residents of Cavendish Park and other areas of Felixstowe and district by Operation Stack. It also fears that emergency vehicles may be delayed as a consequence of the present stacking system. It believes that Operation Stack should be redesigned with better management by the police and Highways Agency Officials. In particular, serious consideration should be given to the use of the old A45 at Levington and to maximum use of suitable areas within the Port of Felixstowe.”

Taking to heart Suffolk Coastal's desire to reduce pollution and save money, CPCA has negotiated a deal with Morrisons Supermarket to purchase 120 low energy light bulbs, one for each of its member's homes. See Felixstowe TV text news story.

After that the fun part of the evening commenced starting with refreshments followed by a fun quiz, Raffle, 100 club draw and time to renew or make friendships.

Barry Farr and Louise Boyt have replied to the Local Government Ombudsman’s provisional report into the planning process regarding the skatepark on Orwell Green. See Felixstowe TV text news story.
